Hi ! I'm exporting models using the Ogre Exporter tool and I ran into a problem yesterday.
I'm no longer able to export the models with their materials.
I open it in Ogre Mesh Viewer and the model is all gray. The thing is I used to be able...I don't know what I changed but it ain't working no more.
Also, I was never able to export textures this way. What kind of material do I need to chose and are there any common mistakes I may be doing ?
Thanks in advance !

I've seen that you are using 3DSMAX 7. I am not sure the exporter will work on that version yet. However if nothing is wrong with exporter, you should wipe the previous exporter and reinstall it again with the latest version. Please search on this forum for additional information. I have seen some 3dMSAX users wrote great hints for exporting for Orge.
There is another thing to be careful that you should put the .material file into the same folder as the .mesh file also the textures should be in the same folder. Otherwise even though the exporter works fine, you won't see the texture on your mesh anyway.

I don't think it's the exporter.
I already succeeded in exporting a model. We can see all the colors in OgreMeshViewer and in a program using Ogre.
However, I recently added animations and though we can see the model with its animations and all the colors in OgreMeshViewer, it doesn't work in Ogre.
Can I take for granted the fact that if it's working in OgreMeshViewer, it should work in Ogre and we made a mistak in the programming or the export may still be a problem ?
Thx

I don't really think the problem you said is quite usual. Since the Meshviewer is using Orge as the base render engine. If you could see your mesh with texture in the meshviewer, you are supposed to see quite the same result in the program.
By the way I have been told that in the meshviewer, it uses linear animation. This means that your animation may not show the true result when you choose sphere animation in program. This is a little bit technical. But I don't think that is that apparently different.
The think is when you export to .mesh and .material, you may wann use the Orge material. This is because you will not be able to export some parameters like object color and other surface properties.
