Hello,
I'm new here and to the whole graphic issue too. I have a project to make, and I'm using maya 6 to create my models. However, I need to convert them into directX files (*.X). So far, I have failed to manage this completely.
I tried to use the directX plugin, but it seems I can't apply a texture to the object. All I get is a black object that won't even show when I run my code.
The term "FX files" cought my eyes a few times, but I don't want to assign such effects on my models (just a simple colored object like a blue box or something that basic).
I could really use some guide here to teach me the steps in creating a successful textured object in the format file of directX.
exporting maya 6 to directX

How exactly does this relate to OGRE (since we don't use the nasty .x format at all)? Seems like you should have been posting on some general artists site, not here. At the very least you should have been posting in the artists forum - but it seems you're rather lost. I've moved the post, but .X is irrelevant here - please explain yourself.
