Ruby + Ogre, Part 3, "Three Dollars Later"

Post by garcia »

Image

When macromedia meets the Ogre team!!!

This is an attempt to set up an atmosphere. It is not a complete or playable game so much as an experimentation of style and mechanics.
I'm looking for feedback on the style or emotion that this type of artwork elicits.

Controls:
Space - While in big mode creates a firefly.
While in little mode returns to big mode.
Up- Jump
Down- Turn to small mode.
Left- Left
Right-Left...just kidding

Click here to download the Windows version:
http://cs.ttu.edu/~garcia/ThreeDollarsL ... v0.4.0.zip (6.3 Mb)

If anyone requests the linux version it will be posted.

Are you saying you implemented this in Ruby programming language?
Looking to hire people working out of their home to do C++ Ogre programming. Blender artists also wanted. Looking for long-term relationships. PM on forums or contact via AIM or email Art@Arica3D.com

Looks like all the objects are scripted via Ruby, very nicely done. :)

Was slightly missled that this was a 3D app, but apparently it is 2D. Still really cute none-the-less.

Yes. Well, kinda. All of the game logic and objects are done via ruby scripts. The way our engine communicates to ogre is through c++. It's not direct bindings like pyOgre, however. We are just writing a wrapper and adding things as we need them.

Well it is 3D because it needs Ogre to run :). But you're right, it is a 2d game set in a 3d space.

Thanks for the feedback :)
