No dot mesh, but i can make you a 3DS, or OBJ.

And do you mean 1000 vertcies or polygons?

Not having "the 3d utilities" shouldn't stop you. Everything you need is freely available.

Here's what you need to do:

Step 1: Download Blender from http://www.blender3d.org
Step 2: Download Blender to Ogre Exporter from http://www.ogre3d.org under the Dowloads -> Tools section.
Step 3: In Blender make a plane (space-bar -> "Add" -> "Plane")
Step 4: Subdivide to your liking (W key followed by 1 key will do it)
Step 5: Run Ogre exporter to generate a .mesh.xml file.
Step 6: Run OgreXMLConverter on the .mesh.xml to make a .mesh

Or better yet, seeing as how you are probably a programmer and not a 3d artist (one can at least hope), use the OgreXMLConverter to convert any .mesh to XML and examine the resulting format. From there it should be pretty trivial to figure out how to write a simple script in python, or whatever your favorite language happens to be, that will generate the necessary <mesh> and <geometry> and <faces>, etc blocks. It's a pretty simple format for something basic like you want with just one submesh and one or no materials.

One more alternative: build the mesh from scratch programmatically in Ogre. The Water demo basically builds a tesselated plane as its first step. Then it perturbs the Z coords to make waves, but you can leave that part out.

Hope that helps!

Dan: once you get Ogre to create the plane for you, you can use the mesh serializer to export it for you to a .mesh file:

Cheater!
:P

Just kidding. Yeh, that sounds like the way to go. Probably a better idea than spending a week trying to learn Blender :-).

@dan - are you sure your collision scheme really requires that you load the plane from a .mesh? How could that be? Whether you call MeshManager::getSingleton().createPlane() or load a .mesh from a file, the result is an Ogre::Mesh in memory.
