Cannot find the MAYA-exporter? [solved]

Post by Oogst »

I installed the MAYA-exporter, but I cannot find it in MAYA. I guess I am missing some really simple step, but I am new to MAYA (I am normally a 3dsmax-modeller).

I copied ogreExporter.mll to MAYA6.0/Bin/Plug-ins. After that I copied all the files in the MLE-folder of the exporter to MAYA/Scripts. In MAYA in Windows>>settings/preferences>>Plug-in manager I checked loaded and auto-load for ogreExporter.mll.

But now what? When I use export all in MAYA, I do not see the Ogre-exporter in the list of exporters. When I type ogreExport in the script-editor, I get this message: "// Error: Object not found: NeutralPoseRadio //". And I cannot find the Ogre-exporter in the shelf either. Where can I find the exporter?!

Thanks for looking at this question!

OK, but where can I find this Ogre-menu then? As I said, it is not in the shelf and I do not see it somewhere else either.

OK, I found it, the problem was that I had copied to c:/program files/maya/scripts instead of to my documents/maya/scripts. Now the menu is in MAYA and the exporter works fine.

It should be one of your top main window menus!!
It might be because you are in the wrong 'mode' (can't remember the official term).
Try switching that little selection button on the left that lets you switch between 'animation', 'modelling', 'rendering' and 'dynamics', as each of them make a different set of menus visible.

Otherwise try opening the Window->General Editors->Script Editor
and type 'ogreExporter' (or was is it ogreExport?) and hit enter. Mind the capitals.
This should also bring up the window where all the action is.

Sorry for being fuzzy about the particulars. My ogre machine is at home.

cheers
