Animation problem when exporting character from Maya

Post by Bringer of Darkness »

Hi all,

I have serious problem that is being applied to more or less all of my models/animations - I have tested two of them, both with weird results...
The animation as it should look like in Maya is:
http://www.3dpeople.de/correctAnim.jpg

The weird deformations are shown in Viewer:
http://www.3dpeople.de/incorrectAnim.jpg
and
http://www.3dpeople.de/incorrectAnim2.jpg

It might be as the result from the IK solvers, controllers, or using character but I don't have a clue exactly where the problem can be....:-(((.

Update: Obviously it is the result of using IKs, when I deleted these, the animations seems to be exported "correctly", although the animation sucks of course;-))
Any idea how to deal with this f@$# exporting problem?;-)

I think you'll find that Ogre doesnt support IK's ATM.

True, I realized, I have to bake the simulation for each animation and export it without using IKs...
Hmm, not the best solution, a bit more work per animation, but it works...

Hi, which exporter are you using?
Actually the IKs shouldn't matter, the bake is made automatically on the fly (without modifying the scene though) I believe both in my exporter and in fifty1's. Looks more like a scaling or transform problem, can you post the nodes tree from the outliner? might be useful...

I am using 6.5c version of exporter.

I thing it might be good for you to have scene, not only the outliner information:
www.3dpeople.de/wolf_ogre.mb

That should give you enough information about it I hope

I'll try the scene right now.
Anyays a new version of the exporter should be available on the site soon, it has a few major issued corrected regarding skeletal animation
