I have been playing around with exporter and Maya.
I came to one interesting point. When I animate scale somewhere within skeleton, it doesn't reflect in animation.
On the other hand, if I animate root of skeleton, it is reflected in animation?
Any ideas?
Just check the following sample:
1. Create cube, 2 bones, bind cube to the skeleton.
2. When you animate the scale of second bone, export - no animation happens.
3. In case you animate the scale of root bone, animation is exported correctly.
Note: Basicaly it is never reflected in .xml bone scale tag...
I am using 6.5c exporter just for the information....

mmm, I guess you're right, I have to look into animated scaling and correct it.
Basically all scaling done above the root joint should be incorporated into the root at export time (I'm actually working on the option to export the skeleton in object space, but still have to correct a few things). Didn't really check what happens with scaling done directly on the joints though...
I'll try the sample animation you suggest to try to correct the problem.
Anyways, there's a new version of the exporter that should be available soon, should support non-hierarchical skeletons and constrained ones....
(let's hope, works well with my puppets for the moment
