[bug?] maya2ogre: textures, skeleton and anim together fails

Post by yarc »

Hi,

I'm kind of successfully running my ogreExporter from my Maya 6.5. I can export polygon shapes, materials, textures, skeletons, animations quite nicely and they look good in Ogre.

Now, the particular combination of having a polygon with textures, a skeleton and an animation clip doesn't work for me. It seems the combination of having a mesh with textures and exporting an animation clip somehow screws the exporter.

--

Let's look slightly at the details in the hope that some guru can direct me to where I err:

Without this particular combination (textures, skeleton and no animation or skeleton, animation but no textures); I press "EXPORT" in my OgreExporter window and a command shell windows pops up and produces a lot of output, all looking good before a "press any key to continue" comes. Then all the appropriate files are produced in my output ogre media dir.

With this particular combination; I press "EXPORT", but this time no command shell window comes. Instead I get quite some output in my Maya Output Window, no errors and all pertaining to clips and animation. See a transcript below. I get files in my output directory but they are all of size 0. The script editor window contains the command I guess and that's it (I've taken away a rather lengthy path and substituted with <dir>:

ogreExport -all -world -mesh "C:\\<dir>\\flap.mesh.xml" -shared -v -n -t -mat "C:\\<dir>\\flap.material" -skel "C:\\<dir>\\flap.skeleton.xml" -anims;
// Translating scene to OGRE format

I'm a bit confused since everything else seems to be working nicely, and wonder if this is a bug or whether somebody can see where I do silly things.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Yarc.

[bug?] maya2ogre: textures, skeleton and anim together fails

Post by yarc »

There is a new ogreExporter available starting yesterday (ogreExporter_bin_maya6.5_1.0.2).

So perhaps my problem will be solved with this update. Thx fra.giordana.

[bug?] maya2ogre: textures, skeleton and anim together fails

Hi,

I've been using it (ogreExporter_bin_maya6.5_1.0.2) for a couple of weeks now, and it does seem to do the job.

Thanks again for your effort fra.giordana.
