Couldn't find matching GLX visual (solved)

Hi!
I have serious problems to run a OGRE aplication.
When i try to run i recive this msg:

What are the parameters of the window you are trying to open? Do you want a 32 bit frame buffer?

All parameters is "1".

No, i don't have fb active.
I'm using X with 16 bit.

Can you run other GLX programs? other SDL programs? Try GLXGears, there's an SDL version of it too, Also make sure there are no other GLX Accellerated programs running when you try to start OGRE, I don't think you can have two GLX instances at one time.

Sounds like a SDL problem. Try using the GLX render system instead, ie by using ./configure --with-platform=GLX . THis must probably will solve it.

I have the same problem, but I use no Nvidia card, I only have a Intel onboard Chip (Notebook with Centrino 2). So running "./configure --with-platform=GLX" shouldn't make sense. But what can I do?

Make sure you have OpenGL support in your driver, Try running a few other GL programs, (GLXGears is the most common) If you can run those then you've got GL support, and should have GLX Support, otherwise... I think your SOL to dev on that system? GLX is not NVidia specific, it's the GL "Extension" for X11, you may have to see if there are alternate drivers available.

glxgears runs without any problem. The driver can run OpenGL on Hardware. I use ubuntu-linux with xorg. I don't know which Graphic-Driver I use because my Intel GMA 900 Chip ran out-of-the-box, even with 3D accleration.

Hey!
My problem is solved....

For Gentoo Linux Users:

1. Ajust yours USE flags for Ogre ebuild:

Code: Select all

echo "dev-games/ogre cegui cg devil -sdl -gtk" >> /etc/portage/package.use
2. Uninstal Ogre (if is installed)

Code: Select all

emerge unmerge ogre
3. Now u can emerge Ogre:

Code: Select all

emerge ogre
Ok! Now GLX is run...

I have the same problem under FreeBSD, but no one of described solutions suits. glxinfo says that all is fine, glxgears runs w/o problems, latest nVidia drivers are also installed, Ogre doesn't want to configure with --with-platform=GLX. Please, help, it's very important!
