Only Blender?

Post by Qefx »

:(

Damn! I searched the web for free 3D ani programs, that "possible" works with ogre. (over export/import) But the only free programm that will work is Blender? Belnder has a GUI that is terible!

i tried: Gmax( dont tried it realy, cause only gmax file data) , Lightwave (good) gamespace (good)

I dont want to open 3 programs to get a ogre compatible file format. Does someone a good and free 3D ani programm? That works with Ogre?

Trust me, Blender is the best of the free ones. Persevere.

About a week or two ago, I said the same thing as you just did on the Ogre IRC channel. I couldn't get my head around the interface/keyboard and I thought it was crap. Some kind souls on the forum pointed me to some video tutorials.... I've never looked back, and I now find the "Blender" way of doing things quite intuitive. The key thing is to remember you'll mostly be using keyboard-shortcuts.

The tutorial videos can be found here:

If you REALLY cannot get to grips with Blender, MilkShape is OK, but limited compared to Blender.

The video tutorials should probably come with Blender. People always complain about it until they use the video tuts. I think its greybeard's soothing voice ;).

How true. He does convey a sense of "okayness" about it. Especially when he struggles to get a value set correctly on a number-slider and in the end you can mentally hear the "f'it I'll type it in"...

Makes all human :)
