Post by f_RED »

In order to get more interesting tool, I ask this question :
What kind of tools do artists/coders need ?

Scene creator ? (oFusion do the job I guess ...AWESOME )
Mesh Viewer ? (a new version more suitable to needs)
Particule Editor ? (More than a in game editor)
More coder oriented tools ?
What else ? Is this tools already exists ?
Please tell us your needs therefore we can code more tools ?

sorry for my english ...
And sorry if it is not the good place for this question ...

oFusion is indeed very cool and all the reports from my modeller have been positive last night, but it's a plugin to 3d Studio Max, a very expensive, top of the line model creation package.

Add to that at the very least a copy of Photoshop and that's an artists toolkit. There's actually a really good reference on the Wiki for toolkits, including programmers, here:

d3th_n1g4: In case you haven't found oFusion yet check OGRE's main page or this direct link. Awesome looking app.

Get the meshviewer and the particle editor from this page:
http://www.ogre3d.org/index.php?option= ... tcat&cat=5

As for a more complete level editor, wait for Falagard to release his Scene Editor, along with his GOOF framework.

Well, we need tools! :)

A material editor would be absolutely great!
With the ability to test shaders, passes, scripts, etc.

I belive nfz was working on one, but maybe it was lost or he ran out of time.

A RenderOgre (as opposed to RenderMonkey) would be a great tool. 8)

Yep ! ... thanks for reply jacmoe :D

This question is for those who wants to code something for Ogre Artist/Coder and wants to know (like me) the needs of the Ogre community in such tools.

so I know now that a materiel editor is needed for Ogre ! maybe it's about to be released :o ???
Any other tools ?
