Max verts per bone limit....

Post by StoneDevil »

i was trying to export a snowboard....fairly high poly with only one bone in it...i have all the verts attached to the bone....when i went to export i was getting errors saying that there were too many verts to a bone....also i would getanother part of the board to export but it would throw errors when i tried to use it in ogre....

is anyone aware of a vert per bone limit in ogre....

thanks
Design video games or play them...you can't have it both ways...

Too little info. What export tool are you using for what modeller and what are the *exact* error messages.

The limit is 4 bones per vertex. If you assign more, OGRE will eliminate the extras and re-balance the remaining bones. You should not need more than 4 bone assignments per vertex.

Not sure what you might need the bones for (programming is fun like that :D), however I currently use attachObjectToBone().

Works like a charm in my animations and my "holdable" items need no bones. Hope this helps (you need to work out an offset and rotation for it to be positioned correctly, but that's usually not a big deal and you only need to do it initially.)
