XSI Plugin Problem

Post by neubsi »

Hi Folks,

hope you can help me out here, i installed the ogre plugin 1.2.0 for xsi 5.0, but it doesn´t load.
In the plugin-manager from xsi, the OgreXSIExporter.dll is marked with a red triangle and tells me a library is not found...

tried the install package from the website, even compiled it on my own... but no use...

thx for your help

I'll take a stab here.

You need to make sure that you have the ogre supporting dll's in the binary directory i think it was. So in summary you need more than just that one dll.

Hi thx for your support;)

if you mean the ilu.dll, ilut.dll, zlib1.dll and the ogremain.dll then i have copied them into the right directory... but still no working export:(

what surprises me is, that the install package didn´t work, never got any problems with xsi plugins... very strange

i couldn´t find any other dependencies other than the included dlls, maybe i´m missing something...

the output of xsi is very limited in this matter, so i can´t even tell what the problem really is... damn...

jfi, i use xsi 5.01

Yea, found the problem, the dlls need to be in the factory bin directory from xsi, not in the addon bin directory...

works now!

You probably pointed the installer at the wrong folder - it needed to be the root folder of XSI, not your personal preferences folder.

Unfortunately XSI doesn't have a way to detect the install directory from an .MSI installer because of a poor choice of registry path that .MSI can't locate - basically the registry key that tells you where XSI is installed is located underneath a key which is itself dependent on the install path! MSI can't pattern-match on registry paths so it's impossible to auto-set it. Therefore the user has to pick the right install directory.
