Hi,
I get an error, when I try to export several meshes in XSI. Imagine I have 3 objects, which different number of texture coordinates. I get this error message then:
"Error: Multiple sets of vertex data in this mesh disagree on the apprpriate index to use for the target texture coordinates. This ambiguity must be rectified before tangents can be generated"
When I assign every object the same amount of texture projections, it's fine. When I export xsi objects seperately it's fine, too. Only when they end up in one .mesh problems occur.
Is this all a limitation, or it there a bug somewhere?
Thanks

This isn't specifically the XSI exporter, it's the common tangents building tool in Mesh. It's because it's trying to figure out which source & destination uv sets to use for tangent generation and it's currently limited to using the same sets for all sub-objects. You'll only get this if you generate tangents for your meshes, and only if you mix the number of UV sets between SubMeshes.
It may be possible to be more specific about tangent generation, but this is harder to do from the outside without knowing why the mesh has differing sets of UVs, or which is the best one to use where there is more than one. So for the moment, it's a limitation of the auto tangents routine.
