Post by danharibo » Thu Apr 13, 2006 11:58 pm

The ogre Resource repository is a place for ogre contentcreators to showcase and distrubute their own models.
And if you don't qutie feel like giveing your models away, you can always post a screenshot in the images section.
http://www.ogrerepository.org
we will be moving to a new topic soon.

this has been tried before, i really dont think that many content creators are just going to give up their models for nothing, mainly because they'd rather sell them instead of giving them away for free.

Its a good idea though, just a shame it wont work

Nice start on your repository! :)

Consider replacing the robot and the barrel when you get more models/particles/whatever.

Also, the models should be packaged in zip files, containing not only the model, but also the material script and the texture(s).
Otherwise they are not really useable. :wink:

How do you submit a model?
By sending it to your mail address?

<edit>
Are you getting any money from Google?
Otherwise you should remove the Google Ads.
</edit>

i had thought that a system that lets the user upload a model would be really good and save you a lot of time too :)

That system is built into Joomla (previously known as Mambo, IIRC) - it lets registered users upload files, but the files will only become visible when the admin has approved of them. :wink:

sounds cool. thought i did register and i cant register with my user name again but i didnt get the activation email so i cant login :( ive never used a CMS before, my hosting provide has some i could use but ive never needed it before.

i would offer to host an additional site if your bandwidth is running low but im currently thinking about switching provide so i dont know what i will be able to use.

i am looking for a provider with svn and trac, at the moment Dreamhost thier most basic package provides everything i want and would most likly let me install just about any CMS system i want but its about £54 a year whereas i am currently paying about £20. if anyone knows a better option i would be glad to hear.

P.S. sorry to go off topic a bit :)

OK. To give this a better chance of developing, I am moving this to Artists and Content Creators.
And stickifying it. <edit> But I will unstick it if this doesn't succeed. </edit>

Good luck! :)

danharibo & steve7946:
This lost email discussion is probably best solved via PMs. :wink:

Once this repository gets going, I think we should make a new sticky topic.
But this will do for now. :wink:
