I loaded a .blend file into blender. Is it possible to import another .blend file to this scene? E.g.: I loaded roads.blend, which is a road layout, and I want to add the other parts of the scene to it (e.g. house1.blend, grass.blend, etc).

From the file menu use Append or use the hot key Shift F1. You can then select the individual objects, armatures, lights etc in the .blend file.
