Scaling issues...

Post by Foxer »

Hi, i've been trying to export 2 ships into ogre format with oFusion, it all looks great, although the capital ship being 1000m in length and the fighter being 10m in length dont come out proportioned correctly in-game

The fighter is as big as the capital ship, no matter what I try.
I even put them in same scene and exported them as separate meshes - still doesnt work...

Any advice on what I may have done wrong?
Ian does all the programming, I provide the models, i will direct him to this topic.

Apply/Reset XForm?
I know almost zero about MAX, but I know that in Blender you have to apply size/rotation before you export. Otherwise it will give me the original size of the model.

Okey, a bit more info:

Basically whats going on is that we are trying to get the scale of the models in max to be correct, so we dont have to rescale them ingame, or if we do, we can just apply one global scale. Whats killing us however is that no matter what we do the sizes of the actual mesh's being exported by oFusion arent changing.

What is however intresting is when we made two boxes, a small one and a very large one, scaling them around in max worked. The large one was large and the small one was small. Making the large one 1000 units accross translated directly into OGRE, and the object was 1000 units cubed.

What is also intresting to note is that the cruiser simply refuses to export flat. When we export it flat down in max, this is the result:
Image

This is actually sitting flat, or at least it is as far as OGRE is concerned. Rotating it so it sits flat wont really help, as ogre will think its actually pointing up into the never never, and once we go to move the ship its all going to die.

Between this and the scale errors, were very confused as to whats going on!

Thanks
Hornet.

Also, is there a way to mask any given texture in the *.material file?
Imagine having a white panel texture and just add a few numbers like 0.39 0.39 0.42 to make it dark blue paneling...

Is it possible? And if then how to do it?

EDIT:
Thanks, it was an Xform error, the ship was scaled 138~ and was tilted by 7.1 degrees, although it sat in a perfect position....
