Problem with normal maps when exporting from maya

Post by Vankor »

Hallo

What the problem is?

head and body - submeshes with 2 materials for body and head.

if i'm exporting model from 3ds max, model look fine, but if from maya, model look wrong (submesh 'body' - black).

if used material without normal map shader(only diffuse map) everything is ok.

p.s. I used shader http://www.ogre3d.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16005 for normal mapping.

Tangent vectors not generated. It is the reason black submeshes.
If on mesh one material, then all ок (tangents are generated) .
But in my case I have 2 materials: for submesh "head" and for submesh "body". Thus ceguimeshviewer writes that at model is not present tangent vectors.

Besides even ceguimeshviewer cannot build tangent if I unload from maya switched off " Build tangent vectors ". Besides unloading from 3d max without tangent vectors, tangent vectors are created in ceguimeshviewer.
It is an error in the exporter or something else?
Somebody had such problem?
P.S. I cannot use 3d max because I maya-animator...

Can you post your Ogre.log file so we can see what is going on? Does it look fine from within Maya, and only shows up black once you export. Also, please post your .material file that Maya exports. There are a couple possible causes for the problem. If, for some reason, the maya exporter is exporting with something like "diffuse 0 0 0 0" then the problem is your texture is not receiving any light, hence it looks black. In that case, the exporter may be configured wrong, or there may be a bug (only Bisco could tell you). I am not familiar with the maya exporter much, so more info will help pinpoint the problem.

Thanks Jerky for the response, but not a material the reason of a problem, because model perfectly looks when I export from 3ds max.

Log it is not created when I export from maya... :?

In it an example I used a part of model and shader which shows tangent vectors. It is visible that on a head is not present tangent vectors, meshviewer too writes that they are not present.
