i've done some search but get flooded with "Modeling a Character in 3DS Max"

just wondering what other options are.

Video tutorials for Blender? I find modeling and rigging in Blender, even for my non-artistic bent, rather simple.

Er, then what is it about the hits you get when searching that don't have what you need?

google seems to be spammed. i spent 3-5 hours searching for 3ds character tutorials. i kept arriving at the same tutorial. even under different domains.

i found the same with the books.

i might try searching amazon, instead of google...

EDIT: ah, there seems to be heaps to look at here.

New Riders - Model, Rig and animate with 3ds max 7 - good book. Doesn't use biped.

hi jacmoe. can you please comment why you mentioned biped. i was going to animate my characters using biped, however is it best to use bones with ogre?

I mentioned biped because the above book doesn't use biped, and because if you know how to manually construct a full skeleton from bones you will understand (and appreciate) what biped (and Character Studio) does for you.
I don't know what the situation is now, but not too long ago biped wasn't fully supported by the Ogre exporters.
I think you can use biped without problems now.
