I am proud to announce the impending release of AsteroidWars. I may not be as good with em electronic calculating devices, what’r they called- oh right, em computers, and the interweb, but one thing I like doing is making multimedia and games. OGRE RUlez!!!!
EDIT: asteroidWars is released, at version 1.01
This game would never had seen the light of day if it weren’t for the help of the OGRE community- people like Sinbad, Jacmoe, SuperChikn, Zaid, Koabi (listed as Korbi) I thank you for answering my countless newbie questions. Because of that I feel it’s only right to make the source code available soon after the initial release.
You can download the installer here- thanks Ajare for uploading it:
I don't even know what to say about this claim, other than it is ridiculous and therefore hilarious. The game looks very crisp. The asteroids look really detailed.
Even better than your legendary T-Rex animation! The spaceship seems to have rather a lot of drag, but you get used to it. Bright and shiny and nice particle effects. Good job!
Best asteroid game I've ever played.
One problem though, when I play a second game there is a huge slow down, like the memory didn't get dumped from the first or something.
as promised the source code (VS 2005) is available for public download -it's the messiest, most inconsistet code you've ever seen, buhahuu! Hope aspiring game makers find it of some help. My contribution to the OGRE community:
note: to get it to compile add these files to an appwizzard "own framework" project that has audiere and cegui. Note that the directory structure is set as in that of the appwizzard and not the released game. Add all the media from asteroidWars. If it crashes at the very beginning remove everything sound-related.

if the game does not launch and instead says something like "the application is incorrectly configured-reinstall" download and install vcredist_x86.exe (2 mb) from here:
Tipp: You do not need to include the *.ncb files in your source releases. These files only contain the Intellisense Database which the MSVC++ IDE (or any Visual Studio IDE, no idea)builds itself. And if any compiler cant create it itself its probably useless for them

I'd like to know what are they saying...
sorry about that - he said it was nice to see fellow ukrainians using OGRE and asked whether or not I use the russian language ogre forums. I thanked him and said that I was aware of their existance but since all of the important ogre contributors/developers are here I use this forum. Plus the community here is nice and friendly.
side note: ukrainian and ruissian are different languages, however because of the soviet rule of the past most ukrainians know russian as well as ukrainian.
