Joof new release (0.2.3)

Post by HCodeur »

Hi all

After 3 weeks of work, version 0.1 of Joof (Just a Ogre tOols Front end) is out. What is Joof? A wxwidgets front end for OgreXmlConverter and MeshUpgrade that will simplify work with them.

For the moment Joof is not very advanced (bad errors management, cannot see logs....) but it is working. This first release is only for test and to give you a first idea on it.

Download

You will find after a screenshoot and features list.

Image

Features:

- Multiple tools versions management (for Ogre 1.0.0 to Ogre 1.4.2)
- Multiple files convertion and upgrade at the same time
- All tools options accessible.

For more informations : http://www.ogre3d.org/wiki/index.php/Joof

If you can please test it and report bugs and ideas on it in this post thanx.

This sounds awesome. I don't have the time to test it right now, but I certainly will be later this week. Sounds useful!

Thanks

I tried it - and I really like it! Thanks! :)

Let me use it a bit more, and I'll get back to you with my critique.
/* Less noise. More signal. */
Ogitor Scenebuilder - powered by Ogre, presented by Qt, fueled by Passion.
OgreAddons - the Ogre code suppository.

Looking like a useful tool. I agree that supporting MeshMagick too eventually would be really good.

Do you intend to make the source open? If so, a place in our ogreaddons can be made available to you so others can help you develop it further.

Joof 0.2 is out !If you need informations go here

You can download it here

What new? Joof 0.2 is completly rewritten and is a bit more advanced (better errors and logs management). Next versions will add new features (dtd validation,meshmagic...) but for the moment it need to be a bit more tested :)

Please test it to find bugs and criticize it :)

I would suggest to add Joof Tool and MeshMagick to the Ogre "OgreCommandLineTools". But then we have to rename "OgreCommandLineTools" to "OgreTools" :-).

How do i add a directory or file? I want to add a directory, click ok and then i can choose a dir. But selecting and clicking on Ok doesn't work and doubleclick also doesn't work !?

edit: Now i realised that Joof only converts Ogre.xml -> Ogre.mesh :-( . You should add an Option to also convert Ogre.mesh -> Ogre.xml with OgreXmlConverter. I think you only have to add another filter like you did for xml to Joof.

hi

- first adding joof and meshmagic can be good but it s to Sinbad to decide :) Other problem for the moment Joof is not open source (will be later when code is more advanced).

- Concerning adding a file Joof only show ".xml" files and you can only select ".mesh.xml" and ".skeleton.xml" for convertion and ".mesh" files for upgrade.

- Concerning adding a dir Joof show the same than for a file selection but you can only select a folder. After if there s no ".mesh.xml" or ".skeleton.xml" or ".mesh" in the folder Joof will take nothing! So be sure that your folder get this kind of files into

- Other thing Joof has a bug (i ve just find it after your post) a file selection (not dir selection!) for an Mesh Upgrade is not working for the moment , bug will be fix for joof 0.2.1

After if you always have the same problem to adding something please give me more informations like your OS (xp or vista),the action (upgrade or convertion) and a screen where you ve got this problem thanx :)

- I ll add mesh and skeleton convertion to xml in Joof 0.2.1 or 0.3

At later and i hope that all will working :)

I'm really looking into your tool. When code will be released I might implement it into GOOF.

I don't get your problem, but apart from that:

This thread is more than three years old and reviving something that old is "bad". Additionally, Joof has been abandoned for quite some time (I once tried to contact the creator to get the code to go on with it instead of writing my own solution...).
