Stop Ogre's Automatic Light Visibility "Checking"?

Stop Ogre's Automatic Light Visibility "Checking"?

Lately I've noticed I'm get a lot of bounding box assertions... after disabling many lights, they go away. I'm guessing my portals break the light checks. If I don't get an assertion, I get a light "flash", where it seems the light turns off and then back on once I go through the portal.

Is it simply possible to disable this lighting check, or whatever it is?
