For all you who don't read slashdot (can't really blame you), Jace Hall has some captures out of your favourite vapourware :

Though of course, that doesn't mean the game will EVER be released
enjoy

I nearly wet my pants yesterday when I saw the video. I'm definitely buying this game when it comes out.

I don't know...back when I last played Duke Nukem, his language and dialog were amusing, and it was decent game.
"Shake it baby..." (while throwing money at strippers)
"I came here to kick a** and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of bubblegum"
"I'm gonna rip off your head and..."
Maybe I'm old, but now I just don't think I'm all that excited about that kind of stuff

. Unless there's some great story or new innovations, I'm not sure why I would be all that interested.

the unique thing about duke was the deathmatch. Since all the weapons were so varied you could actually play very different strategies. As long as they have the trip mines and the 'drop loads of pipe bombs and set them all off at once' thing I'll be happy

Duke was a great game at the time. They totally stole the 'kick a** and chew bubblegum' quote from
They Live (which is a great film BTW) but on the whole it was a fun game and much more fun in deathmatch than Doom2 which is all we really had before it. These days we're swimming in FPS's and I'm not really sure Duke has that much to offer really....

yes but how many of them are fun in the same way as duke was? I'm not just talking about the 'hilarious' one liners, but the cool combination of weapons, interesting strategies and cool environments while still being manically fun. It seems 99% of FPS take themselves way too seriously to be actually fun and I haven't seen any imaginative game play in any of them for years. I honestly can't remember the last time I had the same *type* of fun as duke and shadow warrior so I'm giving them the benefit for this one. Not even serious sam captured 'it'.

Personally, I think Team Fortress 2 comes pretty close.

But TF2 doesn't have strippers!

PainKiller
While I liked Duke3D (I preferred Blood and Shadow Warrior), I never really liked Duke himself. These days I'm even less interested in him, his voice is annoying and it all just seems too juvenile (even though I'm a fan of those Haze cutscenes).

It is juvenil and i guess that's why it worked at that time, as all the audience of the game was young.
