"New post" icon doesn't always work?

Post by JohnJ »

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but the new post icon doesn't always seem to work - posts I read sometimes are shown as having a new post (when they don't), and often I neglect posts on the PagedGeometry forums for hours because I forget to scan the threads manually and simply scan for a new post icon - since often (this just happened again today) new posts don't trigger the new post icon!

It's very annoying - it gets to the point where the new post indicator is pretty much useless.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

If you use a bookmark to access the forum, be sure it is http://www.ogre3d.org/phpBB2
The www is important, else you can have problems with the session cookie with the described symptoms.

The new post icon works well here.

I usually just have a bunch of tabs in Firefox I keep open most of the time, and the URLs are usually something like this:
http://www.ogre3d.org/phpBB2addons/viewforum.php?f=14

Strange. It doesn't happen that often though, so I don't know what may be causing it.

I have similar (or maybe the same) issues with the forum. I don´t see why this
happens. E.g. if I answer a post and then go back to the main forum I see
this thread still unread although I´m the only one who posted...

I don't think it's a fuzzy time issue, since several new posts have been made in this forum, for example, and none of them are marked as new posts for me (even though I didn't read them).
