Where to denouce spammers?

Hey

Is there an organisation where you can denounce (forum) spammers?

Even better which prosecute them and fine them for the time we lose removing their spams?

If not I wonder why a US lawyer didn't jump on this revenue source


After searching a bit I found:

- If you are a US citizen you can file an FTC Complaint
- For the rest of us:

- http://www.spamhaus.org/
- http://www.spamcop.net/ but they deal only with email spam not forum spammers.

It's pointless -- they use anonymous, ficticious or transient email accounts and all link to the same places (which may also be transient or dyndns websites).

The mods here remove the accounts and posts as soon as we find them, and that's about all you can do.

Perhaps we are getting this spam idea all wrong. Instead of deleting their posts, we should change their links to pictures of Kittens.

Except that most of these are deleted within minutes (sometimes they don't even get seconds with me -- I've deleted accounts that were posting even as I was deleting their threads). Spider entries aren't forever, and Google isn't crawling these forums relentlessly.

Deleting the posts and the account is sufficient -- we now have the ability to do it all with one click so it's even faster.
