Good Free File Host?

I was looking for a good free file hosting service (not for websites, just files, like .zips, .tar.bz2s etc.). Something clean, simple, neat, and mainly, with direct link support. I don't want to have to link to an intermediate page, from which the user can download. I need to be able to link directly to the file. Also, I'd like a download counter.

Something like Google Pages file hosting, but with download counters.

So, any ideas?

Thanks! :)

Im not aware of any Free hosts that provide directlink. Problem is: the ones that does it for free wants the end-user to see who is providing the file for publicity.
Some might exist, but i haven't seen any.
I've used rapidshare before with huge success for directlink. Not free, but unless you're planning on releasing 1GB vids, it wont cost you more than $5 a month.

I use "willhostforfood" wich is free, unlimited and provides direct links... I really don't know how they can earn anything from this :P

In fact, i would be happy if someone would tell me where's the trap

From the name, I'd say they want food. :)

Looks good, I'll check it out.

Just read the ToS. Other than the fact the owner will track you down and steal your lunch, doesnt seem to be any :)

Thanks for linky, looks good.

Does your Internet Service Provider give you any web space?

I have 500 MB from my ISP.

But I really use it only for backup purposes (of files which are OK to be public).

If I were to publish something (I mean advertize my files) then I wouldn't use the URL to that web folder, it's ugly and likely not to work in the future, if I change ISP then those URLs would become invalid. I would get a domain name.

Hmm... I don't remember, really.

Domain name != hosting, right? I just want a quick easy free file host, and I'm lazy.

Yeah, its fine. I used it to upload an mp3 I wanted to show my friends, I'll be using it shortly to upload one of my old games for my site.

Correct. You can have a domain but still not have anywhere to host your files.

Of course it's correct. I didn't try to say opposite.

You're correct too. I didn't say you were trying to say the opposite. I was just saying the truth, independent of whether you said it or not. :)

I didn't say, you didn't try to say the opposite. In fact, I didn't say that you did or didn't ever say that you didn't try to say the opposite. Did or didn't I say that was nikki's quote? Or did (or didn't) I miss something?
