EXR -> FP_FLOAT16_RGB?

Post by lf3thn4d »

Hi, is there a way to get OpenEXR image to be loaded as 16bit floats instead of 32bit floats from the material? I noticed the cubic_texture option doesn't have pixel format option.

Personally 32bit is overkill and waste of memory. :( desperately want to downsize it to 16bit.

I'm willing to add fix up if someone can point me to how to deal with this.

Just use the 'texture' option instead. cubic_texture is just a shortcut.

Code: Select all

texture sometexture.exr cubic PF_FLOAT16_RGB
edit: oh wait, this is because you need to use 6 textures. Simple answer - combine them into a DDS instead, ATI's CubeMapGen is good for this, it'll be more efficient too.

Oh. DDS does 16bit floats too?
