Hobby Game: Alpha 5: Coders/Artists needed.

A place for employers, project leaders etc to post if they are looking for people to assist with an Ogre-based project. Please only post in this area if you have a _serious_ project proposition for which you already have something to show for.

Hobby Game: Alpha 5: Coders/Artists needed.

Post by supertrainguy »

Hi, I'm looking for some good C++ Coders/Artists to help me design a new MFPS.

I'm looking for people who can add vehicle physics, ragdoll physics, an item loading system based on xml, and the ability to destroy all in-game objects(Such as trees buildings etc).
I'm also looking for some people to help build some objects.

Here's my main website: http://ogretime.webs.com/

If interested please send me a pm either here or on my website.

The only way of attracting people to a project is to run a project. :)
And keep pimping it.
With news, screen shots, etc.
/* Less noise. More signal. */
Ogitor Scenebuilder - powered by Ogre, presented by Qt, fueled by Passion.
OgreAddons - the Ogre code suppository.

Sorry, I've got no idea how to even get a simple loader to working for loading weapons etc. much the less know how to code a whole game.

I've looked at the tutorials and just kind of dazed at them. I can't do a C++ class at school yet either. All I can do is build the samples.

I'm trying to get a fps game similar to Nexon's Combat Arms over the course of several years. I've been trying to learn ogre for 1.5 years!

Can someone help me out?

Learning C++ isn't that hard, once you really tried it. You don't need a school class for it.

And I don't understand why you tried to learn Ogre for 1.5 years, if you are not able to programm in C++?

Somehow you seem to need everything, the whole team. What is your part in it? Some more information are crucial if you want to find someone (or at least have a slight chance to do so).

I was going to be the team leader/game designer. I have no programming experience.

What I'm ultimately trying to build is a MMOFPS similar Combat Arms with a Battlefield 2 twist. ie vehicles, under barrel grenade launchers, etc.

I want to use Nvidia Physx, BSP style maps, and special effects such as weather effects, falling leaves, and real time daylight (meaning if the server time is 12:00am its dark in the game).

Okay, and you know that this kind of project is damn huge and needs a highly skilled team with a lot of experience?

I think you should definitely start some levels under this project magnitude to get a general feeling on how something like this is done and realize that even small projects are a lot of work confronting you with a bunch of problems.

And I guess that it is also quite helpful for the team leader (no matter if his main aea is the game design) to have a basic understand of programming and the architecture behind a game. Will certainly be useful...

Nevertheless, I wish you just the best!
