Re: Activision vs Jason/Vince
It really sounds like shit.
I don't know the details, but did they just fire the two people who actually did all the hard work, from the initial idea?
That's totally ridiculous.
I mean, that's the best selling game portfolio ever!
<edit>
What's next?
Zenimax firing Carmack?

You know, Im still stung by how badly those ungrateful bastards have treated PC Gamers (the same gamers who propelled them to greatness in the first place), to make a proper comment.

Re: Activision vs Jason/Vince
At first impression, Activision sounds greedy and therefore, choose to be 'capitalist'
rather than paying the heads who are responsible for two very successful products. Although what transpired behind is beyond ours, they should be paid nonetheless.
I personally have dealt with a greedy (or rather, desperate) businessman who chose not to pay us whilst it is us who assist him to get his money that gets his business running.

That's not being capitalist to make every move to ruin their business. What is clever in firing a star-devs-team? They'll never be able to make another game with as much quality.

I don't have a clue what we're talking about here but as it is part of the course of human events, I can guarantee that unless you are one of the three principals involved, you don't know all the details and certainly are not getting the whole story from either side...rush to judgement and so on.

But it's fun to jump to conclusions, isn't it?.
Besides, if we should only comment on what we know for certain, we can't comment on anything at all.
The notion of that it's actually possible to get fired from your own brain child project, that's pretty earthshakingly interesting in itself - regardless of the real reasons.

Eh, not so much. My last studio, the execs fired the founder -- and the entire company and concept was his brainchild.jacmoe wrote:But it's fun to jump to conclusions, isn't it?.

Re: Activision vs Jason/Vince
Rumours have it that they were trying to continue Modern Warfare with Electronic Arts. Which, of course, wouldn't really be in the interest of Activision at all. (See http://kotaku.com/5486210/rumor-infinit ... publishers)
Rumours definitely are fun
I should get some popcorn while waiting for the next round.

Re: Activision vs Jason/Vince
Well...if the quotes attributed to Kotick are true, Activision's move doesn't surprise me too much.
But as it as been said, we don't have the legal documents that may justify Activision's insubordination claim, neither the one for the breach of contract on West/Zampella's side. And as it is going to court now, not sure we'll see them before some years
Hopefully it will unfold one day and real reasons will be at least partially revealed...
And we'll see what happens to MW3, but as I never played CoD I don't really care, much more interested by the lawsuit now
