Applications: Settlers 3 Remake

Hi all,

I am an experienced programmer with real-life experiences (work), and currently studying math science. The only game so far, I will always love, is settlers 3. But Ubisoft seems to be unable to create a settler 3 remake, maybe because the profit would be too low. There are many people out there crying for a settler 3 remake ;). I tried it several times but always ran out of 3D content. I am not a 3D artist.

I created a new OpenSource project on http://opensettlers.codeplex.com/ to collect people interested in developing such a remake and ideas about new features, improvements and overall development.

This is not just another dream ;). If there would be some artists designing GPL 3D content and a small team of developers, we could surely get the job done, since I got pretty far without help already.

If you are not interested in settlers 3 or have never heard about it, so what. The only thing that matters is that you want to participate in a new GPL project, remaking one of the best multiplayer strategy games ever made...

regards
chris

[[ From experiences with others forums: The remake does not mean that any laws will be violated. The project will only do legal development without using IP of ubisoft or any other third party. ]]

Isn't there an obvious license problem? Maybe naming your project something else than "settler" could help? After all, the gameplay of this game is more important than it's setting so I would be you I would avoid any way to attack your project.

Anyway that project seem interesting (from a player viewpoint)

Unfortunately, no it is not. Klaim hit right on the spot.
You should try to rename your project with something different.
