Hello,
My name is Chris and I am recent college graduate with a degree in Computer Science. I am seeking the opportunity to join a project that excites me and challenges me to learn new ideas, techniques, and concepts on a regular basis. The reason I am doing this is I have a passion for video games and would like to learn more about game development in general. Some general highlights from my college career:
• Proficient with C/C++/C#
• Strong object-oriented programming skills with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
• Windows and *nix development
• Good understanding of networking concepts as well as experience with network programming
• Adaptable to new work environments and coding standards where I make it a priority to fully understand the core framework and software libraries of a project so that I can start contributing productively and efficiently as soon as possible
Just as a note I don't want to oversell myself. I fell 100% confident in my abilities to contribute effectively to a project and get my work done in a timely manner but again I am still a recent college graduate and have endless things I can learn and improve upon.
I would like to offer my skills and help for free to a project that meets certain requirements:
• Can use my help on a limited basis. I am currently looking for a full time job so that I can support myself. I would love to offer my services so I can learn new things but my time is somewhat limited. Some weeks I will only be able to work for 5 hours. Others possibly 20 hours. It will change on a weekly basis.
• Is organized and goal oriented. I know there are ton of cool ideas out there for projects/games but being that my time is limited it would be good if I could get a list of goals or cornerstones that are trying to be completed so I can take off and run with them. Having discussions with me and the rest of the team on a daily basis to figure out what needs to be done next won't be a good use of my time and probably not yours either.
• Work with someone that can provide tutelage and be critical of me in a constructive way. I am learning Ogre on my own as well as other game development concepts. Yet I would still like to be able to ask someone questions when the opportunity arises. Also someone to be critical of my work as well in a constructive way. I am confident I can get the job done, but it may not be 100% effective and efficient. After turning in my work if you could look over my work and offer any suggestions (coding related, Ogre related, format related, whatever) will be much appreciated. Its how I learn and improve.
• Work with the graphics development in some respect. My interest is learning about Ogre and graphics. If you have a need for a network programmer or game programmer then I would be interested in doing that as well but if you could involve me in the graphics development that would be great. Maybe if I could sit and listen in on chats about recent developments in the graphics area of a project, that would be great. Or if you could get me directly involved and programming in graphics that would be better.
Again I am excited to work on a project that could use my help. Note that I will be available on a limited basis and should only be seriously considered if there is something I can do with the amount of time I have every week. If you would like to contact me further about seeking my help please respond to me in this thread, via PM, or e-mail (chris.g.austin@gmail.com).

Re: Help Offered - Programmer
I was just bumping my thread on Khazad my DF-like game, it meets several of your criteria, organized, goal oriented, flexible time, graphic focused. The main downside is that I am probably less experienced then you being mostly self-taught and only partly schooled, though I do discuss and debate code design with those I collaborate with (usually over Skype). Check out the code I already have over at https://github.com/ImpalerWrG/Khazad , if your interested reply in the other thread or Skype me a 'kennethferland'.
