New internship positions opening at Saber Astronautics. It's a work-study, appropriate for a final year undergrad looking to cut your teeth on something that looks kick-ass on a CV. We've had a few recent PhD/professionals apply.... but are open to game engineers and artists as well. There's also R&D opportunities, for engineers and artists wishing to transition to a PhD. Two part time internship/work study positions are now open in our new office in Manly, NSW (Sydney). Be a part of a growing and dynamic team, one of the few space engineering startups in Australia. We are known for our interesting research which tackle hard problems at the cutting edge. Our research collaborations have included CSIRO, UNSW, QUT, Deakin, and we were short listed to present at Tech23. Work while learning about the next generation in space operations and logistics and making it happen from the ground up.

INTERNSHIPS/WORK STUDY OPEN MARCH 2011. INTERVIEWING NOW

Description: This is for the Predictive Interactive Ground station Interface (PIGI), an R&D project to modernise satellite control to the latest in interfacing, automation, and human-robotic interaction technologies. Applicants should have relevant coursework for the position they are applying. We are looking for people who have a willingness to enter the unknown, take initiative, experiment, and create. PIGI has a high research component and a passion for space is essential.

Positions:

Space Engineer (or software engineer): *solid* C++ skills and experience with space simulators. Satellite systems, orbital mechanics, mission analysis, and ground station hardware desired. MATLAB a plus. Experience in satellite telemetry analysis and/or space operations desired (but not required).

Computer Graphics / Artist: A creative techno-artist with an interest in applying your skills to human-robotic and satellite control interfaces. Blender, Google SketchUp, C++, Ogre3d. Experience on space projects not required (we will train). An interest in applying your art and CGI skills to space is.
