Hi All, time for a MMiX.Me update!

A new version 0.2.2 is now available (Win32 MSI, 26th October 2012). The main additions are:

• Skinnable - six Falagard CEGUI skins included, swappable at run-time
• "Graphical Equalizer" in 3D

MMiX.Me 0.2.1 is a stability release.


MMiX.Me 0.2.0 is a media player with a 3D spatial UI. This is a "major" beta update in that we are enabling some new functionality. Current feature set:

• Music library playback (mp3, flac, ogg, wma, midi)
• Internet streaming radio (Loudcity)
• Embedded web browser
• Auto-download of album art
• Manual search for album art
• Various view geometries
• Sound effect plug-ins

This looks awesome! I'd love to try it, but I'm a bit weary of installing stuff like this. Nothing against it, but I don't usually like installing software that is still in development. Could you offer a zip file for download? I'd love to try it!

I'll be posting a short feature list and "how-to" soon. This is probably a good idea seeing that the UI is not your regular Windows UI

@TechnoBulldog: MMiX.Me currently is only distributed as an installer, sorry. I understand you want to minimize any risks you might be taking from installing buggy software I think the current setup requires the Media Player to be installed rather than just unpacked somewhere, I don't think that will work. Please check back later to see how the development is going, and maybe you'll find it trustworthy enough

Good. However I cannot run the program after the installation. The shortcut fails as well as the program.

What system are you running, and what kind of error messages (if any) are you getting? The minimum system requirement is Windows XP, SP2.

Hi All,

Now is the time to check out the first maintenance release of MMiX.Me! It's called 0.1.2, and has release date 19th August 2011.
There are a number of minor bug fixes, but more notably we've fixed problems regarding installation and crashes during first-time startup.
So go ahead, download it and keep us updated with your feedback!

I just bumped into this thanks to the news. Nice! It's coverflow on steroids!
It might also be cool to have this as a plugin for various music players like amaroK, so you can integrate it with your existing music collection.

So, a few releases have passed, more or less under the radar.
Focusing on stability, and with a few graphics layout changes,
we are proud to announce MMiX.Me version 0.1.5!

Questions to the community:

• How do you imagine a media player with a 3D interface working?
• What feature/usability/idea would you like/expect to have?
• Changes we should do to MMiX.Me?
• Finally, on redistributing DirectX as MMiX.Me currently does, do you consider this important/necessary for a generic 3D app?

Beautiful ! Great job on the 0.2 release! I love the browsing feature

Also, since you're using FMOD, this will be extremely easy to implement and it would look extremely awesome - analyze the spectrum and do something cool with it. Maybe add bloom and modify it's intensity by the beat, or add a bouncing line in the background, or something within those lines. IMO it's essential for a 3D music player.
