I've always been a Gnome fan but with Gnome3.0 I became a hater and retreated to XFCE, as so many others have. What pissed me off about xfce was the relatively poor integration of things like the filemanager (basic drag'n'drop to the desktop not working etc) and audio management. Now with Gnome3.2 and the 'shell extensions' which allow you to install .js extentsions which make gnome3 act more like gnome2 I'm a convert.
I reckon that Linux is in a state of limbo with its desktop managers, in time Gnome3 will begin to become good by default.
