I wonder what the quality of the depth channel is?
The kinect is fairly inaccurate, and it's colour camera is crap. The Xtion Pro has no colour camera, just the IR camera for depth reading. Apparently the Xtion Live Pro will have a colour camera, but a crap low res one like the kinect.

In theory they would have more bandwidth to play with, as it does not have a RGB camera or an array of microphones so might be more accurate, although I have my doubts! Will interesting though :)

It's the resolution of the IR camera and output of the IR laser that I'm interested in, since that's used to make the depth buffer.

Yeah me to :). However I was under the impression the kinect sensors were limted not because of the actual hardware but the limited bandwidth back to the host. I am not sure why I think this but I may have read something somewhere about Microsoft finding a way to compress the data further so they could use the full resolution of the depth camera.
