Autumn Dynasty - RTS[IOS] - Free for a week until 26 Feb
Hi Everyone!
Autumn Dynasty:Warlords, our sequel to Autumn Dynasty, is being launched next week, and to celebrate, we're releasing Autumn Dynasty free for a week before reverting back to our original price of USD6.99.
You can download the game @ https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/autumn- ... 64622?mt=8
The game have a change of publisher and is now under Touch Dimensions (us, the developers!)
Thank you everyone especially the Ogre3D team for your support, and there are NO ads and NO purchases in the game. Do take the opportunity to share it with friends to enjoy multi-player matches.
Cheers.

Hi everyone!
This is fernfreak and gamedboy, and we've been working on an oriental themed RTS for the iPad using Ogre-- the map takes the form of a chinese painting, and players get to use brush strokes to command their armies!
The game is now out on the appstore Cheers!!!
http://itunes.apple.com/app/id522003675
(Updated New Trailer)

Here are some screenshots (and a gameplay video, which is a bit long...)

Ogre on the iPad is giving us a pretty good framerate, which has been crucial for making the multi-touch gesture controls feel smooth. With around 10 armies/buildings, we're getting around 50+ fps on the iPad 2, and 23+ fps on the iPad 1. Each army is composed of 12 billboard soldiers on average, but the game focuses on fine micromanagement of small numbers of units, so it works out fine for us.
The main slowdown for us has been the batchcount, so we're using Betajaen's Gorilla system to help with overlays (a shoutout here to him!)
If you'd like to find out more about the game, just drop me/fernfreak a note, or you could pop by our pages:
http://www.facebook.com/AutumnDynasty
http://www.autumndynasty.com
(we're still working hard on sprucing both up though, so comments and suggestions are most welcome!)

WOw that look like a very interesting game! It's the second game that made me want to get an iPad... maybe I'll get one with a third!

Re: Autumn Dynasty - iPad Real Time Strategy Game
Thanks everyone-- really do appreciate the support, even if you guys might not have iPads! I guess most of us here are developing on desktops, but in the off chance that you do have an iPad and would like to help test the game, do drop us a line!
Using ogre makes things a lot easier for cross platform stuff, so we might try porting it to some other tablets-- but mainly tablets to preserve the feel. If anyone else is keen on trading information about experiences working with ogre and improving the framerate on the iPad, we'll be glad to share!

Re: Autumn Dynasty - iPad Real Time Strategy Game
Fascinating! Is the 2D user interface custom (i.e., toolbar, buttons etc.) built in Ogre as well, or do you use something else for that?

Re: Autumn Dynasty - iPad Real Time Strategy Game
@captainflaps: yes, it's all custom made in ogre, with gorilla to be exact. We started off with overlays, but realised that each one was added to our batch count and slowed down the game tremendously. I've been wishing for a light ui framework for ogre which supports simple transitions-- transitions really add polish, and that would save quite a bit of time hand tooling everything. Or maybe I'm just unaware of the new stuff that's come up!

I think we'd certainly try We started the game off as a cross platform project really-- this is a little video of the different form factors we initially tried deploying it on...

Love the art style.
The touch UI really works well here (though at first glance mouse would work as well). . Good luck!

It works on both, the game would automatically switch the user interface depending on the screen size.

I like the way the brush works when you're commanding units, a real master-stroke
But seriously, great visual style. You did the individual units as billboards? Looks good.

Great game! What did you use for networking ? Custom-made or some library ?

I checked the play store and as I was logged so it listed it as compatible I have a Galaxy S3. Not sure how it will play on a phone though screens not that big So the Note I would think it will as well.Klaim wrote:Ouh nice! Does it work on Galaxy Notes2 or only on bigger tablets?

Re: [New Trailer]Autumn Dynasty, Now on Android!
I just played it on my Notes 2, I finished the first mission. It's great! I'm surprised there are not much other games like that on these platforms.
Some quick feedback:
- a quick fade or effect when switching from talk to map would be better than abrupt change;
- so far I'm a bit skeptic on the scenario (mostly because of politic side of it), but I'll need to play further see where it goes.

Re: [New Trailer]Autumn Dynasty, Now on Android!
Thanks everyone for the feedback
Yup areay, all individual units are billboards, that allow us of having a lot of troops on the screen at the same time, there are thousands of soldiers on the screen for a couple of skirmish scenarios.
NotCamelCase - we used gamecenter for ios, sadly we did not able to implement networking for android, trying to get deterministic floating point for all android devices is quite crazy
Zonder - we designed ui for the phone as well, you can play the game with one finger or two thumbs
There are also blitz maps for playing on the go, feel free to try the game, just drop me a message if the game does not work for you, I would gladly do a refund.
