Who else is eagerly waiting to buy a Raspberry Pi?

Who else is eagerly waiting to buy a Raspberry Pi?

Mine is destined to be a awesome "Apple TV like" set top box thing. I'm sure Ogre will make it's way on there at some point. Ogre3d Game Console? :D

I checked the store page (not the rs one, the other one) a couple of days ago, the expected time for more stock to arrive was 148 days. :(
I'll buy one once people start getting them and there's no obvious problems.

I'm not sure how well ogre will run on it. The gpu is certainly powerful enough, but the cpu is weaker. Should work I'm just not sure about performance.

Right now I'm waiting for the new graphics drivers for Ubuntu 12.04 beta for my Pandaboard ES, which is basically a Raspberry Pi on steroids.

Wouldn't mind one, but I'd be having to bump up the price by buying an HDMI monitor to go with it. And I'm not sure what it comes with (such as a USB hub), so extras would bump the price up a bit more too. But still, wouldn't mind taking a look at one.

Due to licensing, there's no hardware accelerated MPEG-2 and only it only supports select MPEG-4 profiles. The lack of MPEG-2 is a deal breaker for me since it would require the stream from my HDTV tuner device ( www.silicondust.com ) to be transcoded to H.264.

I just moved to Japan so I'll wait to have a stabilized situation before trying new hobbies like playing with Rhaspberry Pi.

Also, I don't know yet what to do with it. The perfect project for me would be some kind of video game that would exploit the fact that it can be handled with you. I just don't have any game Idea yet.

Your location is out of date ;)

I nearly signed up for one the other day but I am going to wait. I want to see android on this, perfect test platform in my eyes

I think I have a business idea that would involve something like the rhaspberry pi. Too bad I don't have the time to work on it right now and we can't get several rhaspberry pi right now. :(

I would like to have one for XBMC. But It would be a nice idea to port Ogre to ARM and create a gaming console :D

What prevents you to compile Ogre to ARM? It already compiles for IOS and Android...

Frustratingly, I didn't have the right DVI->HDMI adapter and had to plug it into an analogue TV. Watching it boot up in fuzzy-o-vision(tm) made me almost nostalgic about the Atari ST days.

Unfortunately, the screen was too fuzzy to do any serious testing in. Opened up Xwindows for a bit and had a look at what was included. When my DVI->HDMI adapter arrives I'll look forward to getting into the meat and potatoes of it. :)

Mine arrived today! :)
Did someone make any progress on compiling Ogre on it yet? :D

I don't have a real R PI but I've found two interesting links:

I've been trying to compile Ogre (v1-7-3) as part of ROS but seem to be hitting problem with the ARM architecture that the Raspberry Pi uses
The error stems from:

Code: Select all

OgrePlatformInformation.cpp:45:34: fatal error: mach/machine.h: No such file or directory
Diving in:

Code: Select all

    #if OGRE_CPU == OGRE_CPU_ARM
        #include <sys/sysctl.h>
        #include <mach/machine.h>
    #endif
But mach/machine.h is nowhere to be seen. Anyone with knowledge of OGRE source have any pointers on figuring where this file is and where to get it?
Thanks!

This seems related: http://www.ogre3d.org/forums/viewtopic. ... 11#p379011

By the way, I think this is the file you're looking for: http://www.opensource.apple.com/source/ ... /machine.h
Not sure whether you need it, though.

To be honest, I don't think the Pi is more than a toy.

That said, it seems to be great fun playing with it :D

I want the model A (without Ethernet and the second USB port) but I think it'll be a bit before they release it. I may just get a B as a prototyping platform and use it as a DNS cache once I get my A, though either way I'll be waiting for a long time (last I heard 11 week lead time, when they bumped production up to 4000 a day for each company).
