Well as everyone expected Nokia sells Qt to Digia.

It will be interesting to see what the future now holds for the open source versions Qt and whether the open source licence(s) remain as liberal as previous.
I thought Nokia did a good job with Qt, particularly with the tools, PySide and Qt Creator.
Guess it's time to bite the bullet here on Linux as a contingency to update all my old gtk+2 code to gtk+3.

I can't imagine they will change the open source license back to GPL. That would only lead to forks of the LGPL versions and is a sure-fire way to scatter the community and possibly destroying Qt.

Yeah you are probably correct, every indication so far supports status quo regarding the open source licenses.
And anyway there is always the agreement between KDE and Nokia though I don't know what license "Free Software" specifically refers to.

Re: Digia Buys Out Qt From Nokia
Can't say this is much of a surprise; ever since Nokia switched to Windows Phone instead of Symbian it seemed like it would only be a matter of time before they stopped developing Qt. Even though I use Qt in several of my projects at the moment I'm not too concerned about this - the current version of Qt should be enough to keep me going for a few years at least and it's used so much by so many big projects (Maya, KDE, Skype, Spotify and FMod designer are the first that come to mind), I can't see them stopping support for it or making any radical changes. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out in the long run.

Re: Digia Buys Out Qt From Nokia
I really hope they will keep this great toolkit free.
It's very sad that nokia is dropping everything good it has created. I fear a little for the continued existence of this company, it's really lost a lot of market share in the mobile phone market by going with windows mobile. Many of their customers didn't agree with that choice.
They should have gone for android, or invested in the new generation symbian.
Anyway the statement on Digia's website seems to be favorable for the qt ecosystem, with the mention of maintaining R&D and extending support to more devices, encouraging continued effort from the community, both commercial and open versions, and the promise of a Qt5 release.
