Real-time Motion Capture with YEI Mocap Bundle in Ogre3d

Post by RoadKillGrill »

Its been a few months since I've posted any new fun demos or games
Last time I was using a single YEI 3-Space Sensor to make a Maze and color matching game this time I wanted to try something bigger.
Using now 17 wireless sensors a whole body can be animated in real-time.

This was demoed earlier this year at the Sensors Expo in Chicago, It was much more fun to have a fully rigged model moving in real-time than a skeleton to show the sensor capabilities.

As this system is inertial it does not need line of sight with camera to work so occlusion is a non-issue. As long as the sensors are in range of the wireless dongles it could be in an adjacent room. Or start in one room and walk into another. I really really want a quality wireless HMD to play with.

I'm not much of an artist so as you can see it uses the Sinbad model and the bsp demo map. I really want to expand this and make it more into a game if I get spare time.

More information about the sensors can be found here: http://tech.yostengineering.com/3-space-sensor

It's a rule, artist applications are 50% magic and 40% productivity and 10% crash.

Oops I posted an earlier version of the video. Fixed the audio timing in this one

Kudos to you! This is impressive stuff you have there, and your full mocap system seems to be far more affordable than the alternatives.
