Ogre Forums

Hello, i'm new here, i'm french (sorry for my english) and i know french communauty for Ogre but here have best posts than french forum so...

I just want to send a request for french language interface for this forum, i know phpbb3 and french language is available. Maybe the webmasters have implemented some new var in english language and some words will be lost but at least we have choice.

Can I have a german interface?

We decided against this a long time ago: forums in different languages.
It only leads to fragmentation of the user base - and means more work for the already overworked Ogre team.

I know it's really hard - especially for the French, but also many Germans - but English is actually the world language atm.

I'm not sure if that's what he's asking for though. It sounds like it's just having phpbb in french (like the submit buttons, advanced search, etc), not french posts or forums.

Correct! My joke comment was asking for a german interface version.

Yes a meant for french forum UI not posts or others. (I know it's not possible) but for interface it's ok.

I say no

Reasoning forums posts have to be in english (am sure I read that somewhere probably rules lol) so having the interface in different languages might start people posting in them as well and that will break up the consistency. Learning the few words to operate the forum is not alot compared to reading the posts.

That's more confortable for french ppl. It's only the one reason i know. But we will post in english language.

Actually it's not more confortable for french people. French people who follow english forums wants to not mix French and english because it's too easy to get lost between the meaning of some words being the same in both. Also, it creates a strong context switch in the mind.

I far prefer my english websites with an english interface. And I'm French. A lot of French are around.

As soon as you understand what we type, there should be no problem in using the english interface.

I am french, and I don't find it more confortable with French UI. But that is only my point of view, and I don't know for others.

Like stipulate in the first post "at least we have choice..." but ok i understand french people decision, so we can close this topic.
