Re: date for GSoC 2013 proposal decisions
I guess my source of confusion is what the "Student acceptance choice deadline" is about since it takes place May 24, prior to the announce date of May 27th. My initial guess is that 'student acceptance' means students accepting the offer to proceed with their proposal. Am I mistaken?

Re: date for GSoC 2013 proposal decisions
I think that is the last point, where we as an organization can accept a certain student proposal. AFAIK there is no dedicated point in time when a student can/has to say that he/she wants to actually proceed with their proposal (entering a proposal at all already counts as wanting to also implement that proposal). If however a students gets selected by multiple projects, they will get contacted up-front to decide/discuss on how to proceed (called de-duplication phase).

Thanks for the clarification. Now I know there is no hope of getting results sooner - I have to endure until May 27th.

Unfortunately, yes. Google is very strict and clear in that regard.
