Looking for a new monitor
Not kept up to date with monitors so not sure what to watch out for. Can anyone give me any tips? Using it for games / development only want 1 screen so prob a 24-27" 1080p also fine don't need super high res

Re: Looking for a new monitor
I personally would go with the 27" inch, and of course grab an LED backlit one. I bought 2 of these a couple of months ago and love them. LG makes really nice montiors and the price was right.

Re: Looking for a new monitor
recently bought this both at work and home. moderately satisfied.
to my test, 27" was forcing me to move my head left and right to much
of course, ymmv

@herb
I have a 2 LG 22inch ips panels at work and they are good. Not played games on them though heard they not too good for that, ghosting and such?
@ekt
I was thinking the same thing about 27inch ones would be moving my head around a lot I'm about a meter away from the screen.
I currently have a 19inch 5ms lcd non widescreen (ancient had it about 7 years!) its blow 1 line out on the display though ok in games but really annoying when coding. It's too low res though anyway.

I keep my monitor at 60cm, so if you stay a 1mt maybe a 27" is fineZonder wrote: I was thinking the same thing about 27inch ones would be moving my head around a lot I'm about a meter away from the screen.
the other thing that bugs me is ratio. basically on >20 inch, you can only find 16:9 and 16:10.
they are great for tools like 3dsmax or unity but for code i think nothing beats 4:3

Re: Looking for a new monitor
yeah you really can't buy 4:3 any more in large sizes :S
I think I will go with a 24" that way I can get more screens if needed
anyone played games on the IPS ones?

Re: Looking for a new monitor
saw a couple people mention 4:3 for coding, but was curious if anyone with 2 monitors has tried rotating one of them 90 degrees to display a longer pages of code? though I suppose you also need a stand that can support it, but most video cards should have the ability. wouldn't really work with single monitor I think, would be a bit weird to try watching movies or whatnot on it.

Re: Looking for a new monitor
Recently I saw in a video a Microsoft developer using 6 screens, two of them were long and vertical.
He was saying that at home he had eight, it's far better.
I really need to get a desktop instead of a laptop...
