My ASUS motherboard has been acting up strangely and I have to press the start button twice for the PC to start.
This issue occurred to me last time and I solved it by simply updating the BIOS to a newer version and that was 6 months ago.
A week back this double button start issue has again come up and I again downloaded and updated to a newer BIOS version but the issue is persistent and it has been a week and I am having to press the start button twice
every time
The computer runs with no issues after start up so there is nothing wrong with the hardware.
I googled the issue and it seems to be very common with ASUS motherboards and the recommended solution is to clear the CMOS which I will be doing in a few days as a last resort.
Any ideas why ASUS hasn't found a solution to a very common issue on their motherboards irrespective of their model number ( it seems to occur with all Intel based ASUS boards).
I am an ASUS fan and almost all components in my PC from Graphics Card to the WIFI adapter is from ASUS, but I guess I ll have to hesitate before purchasing another ASUS board.

There's a specific chip that listens for you to press the power button, it's called the EC (Embedded Controller). It might be using firmware buried inside the BIOS, but it usually has its own firmware.

That means a BIOS firmware update might fix things, but not always.

ASUS has pretty good US tech support; after all they cater to enthusiasts who like to build their own PC. Are you still under warranty? Have you tried calling them?

Yes I am very much under warranty and it has been just a year since I got my motherboard, anyway I have cleared the CMOS today by removing the onboard battery and using the jumper. It seems to boot up fine today, I will check it for a few days, if the problem arises again I ll have to RMA it.
