Hi all!
just wanted to show you one of our latest developments here at University of Bristol. It is called Mistable, and combines a tabletop (big multi-touch surface) and personal fog screens for each user(easier to see it than to explain it). Jump to 2:25 for a familiar face.

MisTable
¿Que es real?, ¿Como defines lo real? Si estas hablando de lo que puedes sentir, lo que puedes oler, lo que puedes saborear y ver, entonces lo real son simplemente señales electricas interpretadas por tu cerebro. (Morfeo, the Matrix)

Re: MisTable
[s]I saw this on newscientist I think as a link to the universities site[/s] (was wrong it was sciencedaily http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/20 ... 194615.htm). When I was watching I thought I am sure that's the OGRE head mesh but that didn't mean it was using ogre.
I am glad it is though as this project looks really interesting hope things go well with it.

Yes, we forgot to add a link to Ogre in the credits. We also forgot to credit the editor of the video (brilliant Matt Sutton) and some others but... to be honest, we did not expect the video to receive much attention (other projects have barely received 10K visits). I guess we have to learn from this...

Re: MisTable
Is there any progress towards real time voxelization so this is no longer a projection and you can see the back of the ogre head when you move to the opposite side of the table?

Re: MisTable
The approach is slightly different. What we do is that we track each users' head (Kinect), showing the correct perspective of the scene according to his/her eyes position. Given that the personal fog screen is always between each user and the table he will always see what he is supposed to see through the personal screen in front of him.
If you move to the other side of the table (opposite chair) you will be seeing the scene from that viewpoint and, thus, you will see the other side of the head.
The major limitation is that each personal screen can only accomodate one user (the perspective of what we show is correct from the point of view of its user). If the table has four sides, we can accomodate four users, each in one side of the table. Even if this is a limitation, these four users can have personal 2D contents in their personal screens, 3D contents above the tabletop and 2D shared contents on the surface of the tabletop, all in the reach of their arms. This is quite a leap forward when compared to a common tabletop...
