Hi there,
I'm relatively new user (noob) of Ogre, and i really loved the programming structure used in ogre programs. I got a task at my hand here, I've been told develop a mini project at my college and i want to use OGRE in it. Problem is , that I could not think of any problem - statement to start with, and I thought, who would have a lot of ideas of projects related to OGRE ? (OGRE community, of course). So I'm seeking help here, if someone could really help me with project topics, help me decide to choose among them.
By the way, i've got one complete year to develop the project, and I'm in team of four students, so I cannot handle project as large as "CREATING AN MMORPG", or "SPACE SIMULATION SYSTEM", and not as small as "ANIMATING SINBAD". See the dilemma ?
Things I've already got running are :
1] Ogre 1.8x compiled and built
2] CEGUI 0.8x compiled and built
3] WxWidgets 3.0.0 also, compiled and built
Thanks in advance !

Re: Mini - Project Problem Statement
I think you should either use CEGUI or WxWidgets but not both. CEGUI might be better for more game-like purposes, the other more for business-y applications.
For small fun games it might be interesting to use some interaction technique together with physics. Of course this will require an additional dependency to integrate a physics library with collision detection etc. But its always fun to roll a ball into a stack of whatever throwing its components apart. Cf course it should be tied with some sort of game-like-goal.
Other than that, 3D point and click stuff doesnt require physics and you could make something out of that as well with some small game.

If you are looking for things to do with Ogre, you could tackle one of the "Google Summer Of Code" project ideas. http://www.ogre3d.org/tikiwiki/tiki-ind ... ject+Ideas
They aren't game ideas, they are additions that would be good for Ogre as a whole. If you're doing a 3D graphics project at uni (as opposed to a make-a-game course) then you'd probably get more cred doing one of those than making a game.

Well..., That was quick !
Okay, Thank you guys, your replies are really appreciated.
areay, that's a really good list. Unfortunately, I can't work on GSoC, as the dates of my university clash with it, but they really are top ideas. I was interested in one with sorting render queues, although being a tough task. Also improving android port seems good option.
Boy-oh boy ! A lot of research and study needs to be done right now.
Ident, you really got me on topic. The reason I started to use OGRE was because of my childish dream to create a game. But, because of grumpy, "All Work - No Play" type of professors in my college, I have to make something that suits to an engineering student. BTW I was never going to use WxWidgets and CEGUI together, they're just already built in my computer. So , I'll have to do with point-and-click stuff.
Thanks to all again...
