@mkultra. I only can say that I've done some work for a well-known gamestudio that used Ogre3d. The actual game was no success as far as I know

Re: Ogre3d Based Game Sales
I've been following Scrap Mechanic for a while as it really appeals to me since I first encountered it and I just saw that they passed 100k sales on Steam Early Access! That's a pretty good success (although I didn't buy a copy yet ) and I feel like this game could be a big hit so maybe OGRE will get to draw some sweet attention/publicity out of it

Re: Ogre3d Based Game Sales
Judging by past trends, my own game's EA trends, and Steamspy analysis of EA to Post EA release, it's safe to assume Scrap Mechanic will reach 3rd place in Ogre based game sales on Steam. Currently it's sitting at about 110k. Sales growth has stagnated, so from here on out it's all about word of mouth from updates, discounts, full release, and advertising.NotCamelCase wrote:I've been following Scrap Mechanic for a while as it really appeals to me since I first encountered it and I just saw that they passed 100k sales on Steam Early Access! As far as big hit. Torchlight I & II will still probably hold the top spots.
Outside of the realm of Ogre, Scrap Mechanic will probably be an above average for a "Builder" game (550k sales) and slightly above average for Sandbox (750k sales.)
Anyhoo I'll update the charts around March 1st.
I'd be interested in the name of these titles.spookyboo wrote:@mkultra. I only can say that I've done some work for a well-known gamestudio that used Ogre3d. The actual game was no success as far as I know

Was any of your other commercial games built on Ogre?
You know it's never too late to release Proun on Steam There is a lot of competition, but any sales are better than no sales from an existing, finished, product? Right?

Cello Fortress and Snowball Earth are. Cello Fortress is not finished yet (almost) and Snowball Earth was cancelled years ago, but you can download the prototype we made in Ogre here.bronzebeard wrote:... Was any of your other commercial games built on Ogre? ...
The other games I've worked on (Swords & Soldiers, Awesomenauts, Swords & Soldiers II) are all in our own in-house multi-platform 2D engine.

I'm trying to keep the list to commercial games available for sale. I can't buy copies of Cello Fortress and Snowball Earth as far as I know. So they'll be excluded from this list. Thanks for the info about the other games.Oogst wrote:Cello Fortress and Snowball Earth are. Re: Ogre3D Based Game Sales
Added Undercover Missions: Operation Kursk K-141 to both charts.
Added non-steam game: Supremacy: Four Paths To Power to the forum chart, found it on the main page testimonials.
I'll try to work in the non-steam games into the wiki forums (with links to their respected webpages) in the March update.
If you know of anymore Commercial Ogre3D games, be it on cell phone, PC, or consoles, it doesn't matter so long as it costs money and is currently running Ogre, please let us know!

If we are not only talking about Steam, then there are a few more, e.g. "Family Farm", "Good Folks", "Lockdown Protocol" and "Minion Master".

While not on Steam, I think it'll be good to link these as well in the list (just off the charts since we can't get sales figures for them...)spacegaier wrote:If we are not only talking about Steam, then there are a few more, e.g. "Family Farm", "Good Folks", "Lockdown Protocol" and "Minion Master".

Re: Ogre3D Based Game Sales
I've updated the March 1st numbers on both the top post and the wiki.
I've switched over to rounding down the sales figures to prevent chart fluctuations dues to statical errors. This is important for the lower selling games as the sales figures can easily jump 20-30% over a two week period of calculations. Since I am round down these figures should paint a much more accurate picture of the minimum sales each game has made on Steam. It should also make much less work for me updating the charts as well make actual movements in the charts much more apparent.
The rounding is as follows:
Eyeballed medium number of units owned in the last 2 weeks.
<1,000 rounded down by the hundreds.
<10,000 rounded down by the thousands.
<100,000 rounded down by the 5 thousands.
<200,000 rounded down by the 10 thousands.
<1,000,000 rounded down by the 25 thousands.
>1,000,000 rounded down by the 100 thousands.
I've also added Free to Play games to the list (if they're on Steam) and have removed the non-steam games from the list on the forums. I will be adding the non-steam games to the wiki page in their own table over the next few days.
So what about the last month?
RaceCraft was released in a closed Early Access by Vae Victis Games. Free copies were gifted to owners of their previous game Victory: The Age of Racing.
Victory was then released as Free to Play. This resulted in a huge 100,000 owner jump for Victory as well a 25,000 unit jump for RaceCraft from the free copies given out.
Scrap Mechanic continues its rapid growth. Earlier in this thread I mentioned that sales growth had started to stagnate. Well I ate my words and it jumped up again. It is starting to slow some though. As of this writing it's sitting 6th on "Top Sellers" Chart on Steam. (From my observations this is based on revenues over 6 hour snapshots.) While this may seem great, they have been sitting in the top 3 since launch. Anyhoo Scrap has doubled its sales over the month and have jumped into 6th!!! Very good chance this may become the 3rd or 2nd best selling Ogre3D game!

Re: Ogre3D Based Game Sales
Updated the main post and wiki with April numbers.
Also added a change in position to the forum post.
Some take aways,
Victory Age of Racing Free to play moves it up to 4th place with 225,000 people trying out the game. This means 10x more people have tried the game as F2P over the previous paid for versions. However this move does not equate to more revenues (educated guess), likewise F2P seemed to bring down the review score, from 56% to 43%. Moving to F2P has increased their average concentrate player count by 10000%!!! (from 2.2 to 235) http://steamcharts.com/app/264120
Scrap Mechanic's Growth has slowed, but it still continues to defy expectations with steady sales growth. It moves into 5th place (4th if you don't include F2P games) and should easily take 3rd by the end of the month. The real question is wither it will catch Torchlight steam's numbers before getting out of Early Access.
Finally Vector Thrust had a huge jump in sales at the start of the month. Over doubling their units sold from 10k to 25k and jumping up 10 spots to tied with 29th. I couldn't find a cause after a quick search. Perhaps it was a bundle?
That's it for this month.
Know of any commercial games that are currently/shipped using Ogre3d and are not on the List? Please let us know!

Re: Ogre3D Based Game Sales
Updated OP with May 1st numbers.
Not much change this month. Both Victory Age of Racing and Scapped Mechanic added a few more users thus pushing them over Damned. As such Damned falls from 3rd most successful Ogre game to 5th (4th if you do not count Free to Play games.)
The rest of the field bounces with margin of error except down toward the bottom of the chart we find that 'The Body Changer' and 'I Shall Remain' picked up a few more in sales. Both did enough to push them clearly ahead of Ankh's stream numbers.
If you know of any commercial games being released to steam, please let us know!
Till next month!

Re: Ogre3D Based Game Sales
It seems that Rebellion's Battlezone 98 Redux is using Ogre. On the steam support page the devs mention sending them ogre.cfg, I've seen some other mentions of ogre and on our help forum a member is modding the game and converted a mesh using the ogre xml converter.
The game came out a month ago and steam spy says it's got 13,764 owners and a user score of 92%.

Re: Ogre3D Based Game Sales
The OP chart has been updated to June 1st numbers.
While a few games enjoyed a bump up in sales, there was not much movement on the charts this week. I pushed Scrap Mechanic ahead of Victory! Age of Racing as the former is still enjoying increased sales where as the later has stagnated just barely at the 275k mark.
Outside of that there was no chart movement for games already on our list. Although a number of them were able to bump up in our rounding. Running With Guns is now at 160k units, Emergency 2016 has entered the 10,000 units bracket, and Undercover Missions: Operation Kursk K-141 broke the 1,000 mark!
A new entry has been added thanks to Kojack. Battlezone 98 Redux entered our tied for 41st after a month and a half of sales. The remake of Battlezone has just over 10,000 in sales and should easily break the 15,000 sales mark in the next few months.
That's all for this month. Next month I will update review scores and possibly get around to my non-steam commercial game wiki page. Thanks again for reading. And remember, if you know of any commercial games not on this chart (Steam or otherwise) please feel free to point them out to me so I can add them. Thanks again!
