Difference between branches 1.10 and Default?

Difference between branches 1.10 and Default?
My understanding is that the default branch of bitbucket is Ogre 1.10. However I notice there's a 1.10 branch as well. Their last update dates are different. Are they both 1.10 but once is kept more up to date or something? Which is the best?

1.10 branch is preparing for a release thats why we branched it
