What can you tell us about the engine used for Hob?
Wonder Russell: Since our inception, we have been using an open-source engine called Ogre. We’ve made a ton of changes over the years and it’s definitely a highly customized engine at this point.

Cool, looks like another game to add to my commercial game list when it's released.
I just wonder how much of Ogre is left in it. Are they continuing off Torchlight engine or did they move on to Ogre2.1?

Re: ogre mentioned in interview about runic's hob
my impression is the lineage of runic's ogre is:
torchlight -> torchlight 2 -> rebel galaxy / hob
i read bits and pieces in various interviews that travis and runic shared fixes and features (mac port?) "since they were all still friends".
from rebel galaxy and hob screenshots it doesn't look like they radically changed the engine. i.e. i don't immediately see anything in those games that you couldn't do in ogre. they did have some "graphic programmer" job postings after torchlight 2 so perhaps they are adding new features or upgrading the engine like 2.x ogre.

some more info:

with tourchlight1 they did'nt customized ogre... tl2 is an almost unmodified slim version or tl1...
The game itself is C++, and the editor C#....( in some other forums i've read they use a c# wrapper... )
it looks so good probably because of the art and shader work.
