The latest changes aren't big (nowhere as big as 2.0 -> 2.1 -> 2.2), but enough to warrant bumping 2.2 -> 2.3, particularly now that we have published a stable release of 2.2, thus users expect only very minor changes from 2.2.n -> 2.2.n+1
The github ticket explains the version bump in more detail.

Elements from active religions such as Christian, Islam and Hindu symbolism can apply, but we need to be more careful, as not to be disrespectful.
Champions, demigods can also be used.
We need to filter this list with the best candidates, so that the poll votes don't dillute too much.
The name must start with the letter D. As that is Ogre 2.3's codename.
The name should be ideally easy to type and remember. Some names like Dellingr or Dakshayani may sound really cool (at least as a westerner) but they can be very hard on our global userbase, unless you all disagree.
Names like 'Dionysus' sound cool but are prone to confusion (was the first an I or Y? or was it the second? Were both written with Y? was it Dionysus or Dionsyus?)

Remember: We're culling the list now (or add new ones if proposed). Once we settle for 2-4 candidates, we will make a poll to select the winner.
