Any ETA on the initial 2.3 release date?

I'm guessing it will be around 8 months.
There aren't going to be more significant changes to Ogre 2.3; you can checkout the master branch if you have to.
We're developing some 3rd party code using Ogre 2.3 which will be stress-testing the new Vulkan backend and we're waiting for that to be ready before releasing 2.3
